Soirées aux Chandelles

A night out of time and history

Since 1980, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte proposes to the visitors a dreamlike and unique experience: the candlelit visit of the château and its gardens! Rediscover the 33 hectares of formal gardens created by André Le Nôtre, the marvellous architecture of Louis Le Vau and Charles Le Brun’s sumptuous paintings by the flickering lights of 2 000 candles.

First château to propose candlelit visits, Vaux-le-Vicomte invites you to a night out of time and history, to recapture the magic of the famous party of August 17, 1661.

The must-see

A gold and silver firework will end each evening! To honour the 50th anniversary of the château’s Opening to the Public (1968-2018), a giant “50” will enlighten the sky every Saturday at 11 PM as a tribute to the Vogüé family’s perseverance and the faithfulness of the public which has ensured the protection and transmission of the château for half a century.

A romantic moment to share

Over a fine dinner at the Charmilles restaurant, overlooking the enlightened château and formal gardens, for a simpler meal at the Relais de l’Ecureuil or quietly installed at the Songe de Vaux with a champagne glass and macaroons listening to baroque music ; each visitor will enjoy magical moments, contemplating the harmony of a complete work of art of the 17th century.
